Faculty Surveys
Collaboration on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) Survey
The Harvard School of Graduate Education’s COACHE Survey is a national survey that collects information on a wide range issues identified as critical to faculty satisfaction and engagement, and therefore, to recruitment and retention efforts. Topics covered in the survey include the nature of work in research, teaching, and service; tenure and promotion practices; resources and support; department collegiality, quality, and engagement; governance and leadership; and benefits and compensation.
Dashboard
An interactive dashboard with COACHE trend data (2011 through 2024 administrations), filterable by year, tenure track status (tenure track, professional track), tenure status (tenure track only; tenured vs pre-tenured), rank (tenure track faculty only; full, associate, assistant), rank (all faculty; full, associate, assistant), gender, and race/ethnicity. Also included are trend comparisons between NC State overall results and those of our aggregated COACHE peer group.
Annual Reports
Links to an infographic with key findings; a methods report with response rates; narrative summaries of overall findings; tables with results by subgroups of faculty (e.g., by tenure track status, rank), with peer comparisons, and trends; and a copy of the questionnaire.
